Rockhampton River Festival

River Fest X

26-28 July 2024

A decade can seem like a long time, or it can seem like no time has passed at all.

For Rockhampton Regional Council, looking back on the change over the last decade has inspired this year’s Rockhampton River Festival theme; reflection.

This year is the 10th year of the festival. To signify this milestone anniversary, this year’s theme encourages festival goers to acknowledge and to celebrate the transformation and growth the region and the community, has experienced since the festival’s inception in 2014.

With the primary goal of bringing the community together to showcase local talents in the arts, culture and entertainment space, as well as celebrate the diversity of the region with a variety of foods from around the world, Riverfest quickly evolved into an iconic event.

What once was used as the primary lifesource for the Darumbal people in the time of Dreaming, the Fitzroy River (Tunuba) has evolved over the years to meet a variety of needs for the growing region, including agriculture, domestic and commercial fishing, water sports and recreation, mining, an eco-system for local wildlife and a tourism drawcard.

Situated on the riverbank, surrounded by the natural and built heritage-listed Quay Street, overlooking the mighty Fitzroy, over 35,000 people are expected to come together in the heart of the city to celebrate the three-day event.
