The Stone Apes

Bridging the gap between tropical guitar riffs and a hard-hitting rhythm section, The Stone Apes create an infectious blend of Australian Indie and stadium rock that instantly captures the attention of audiences at every venue the group takes on. The strong vocal performance of front man Jye Kennedy, along with his ability to freestyle songs on the spot delivers a unique and unmatched experience. Regardless of where they are on the road, new fans and members of the crowd are belting out the lyrics to their original tunes by the time the second chorus comes around. This tasty recipe has provided a strong platform for The Stone Apes to take their music to new heights, with their sound becoming more irresistible with each new release.

The five-piece outfit, consisting of Jye Kennedy (vocals), Graydon Kennedy (guitar), Nick Hooper (drums), Ben Thistlethwaite (bass) and Jeremy Titmarsh (guitar) began to come together in late 2020. It all started when brothers Jye and Graydon Kennedy began writing and recording music in their parents' old caravan during the height of the COVID pandemic. After recording their debut single, ‘Nuclear Summer’, the pair recruited long-time mates Nick, Ben and Jeremy to expand their sound and take their music to the road. Since its release, ‘Nuclear Summer’ has surpassed 40,000 streams, gathering a loyal group of fans across the country. The Stone Apes have since released their debut EP, ‘Strange Colours’, gaining a pair of single premieres through Triple J’s popular program ‘Home & Hosed’.

After touring up and down the east coast of Australia in support of Aussie legends Wolfmother, Dune Rats, Pacific Avenue, Bugs and The Grogans, The Stone Apes will embark on their ‘Strange Colours Tour’ this July.
